Philippians 2:

  1. who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
  2. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
  3. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,
  4. so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
  5. and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Christmas According to Paul - Philippians 2:6–11

  1. Jesus came into this world as God
  2. He came into this world to give, not to receive
  3. He came for the cross
  4. He came to be exalted
  5. He came to be followed

The Challenge of Christmas

  • Are we prepared to take the message of Christmas seriously?
  • Be ready to follow Jesus in radical discipleship, to rise above the selfishness of our own interests, to carry his cross wherever it leads.
  • No matter what we suffer here, and share in his humiliation, we will be raised with Christ to the highest heights, and find our destiny at the foot of his throne.
